S.M Creations' Poonthalir-1979 starred Sivakumar, Sujatha, ARS, Manorama and others. The wall posters advertised the film as "a film to commemorate the International Year Of The Child"--it was about the adventures of a child whose mother (Sujatha) dies, and he is left all alone on the roads of Chennai, and how he is finally reunited with his father (Sivakumar)--almost like Baby's Day Out--only perhaps a more serious story.The film was directed by Devaraj-Mohan, who made several films with Sivakumar as hero and IR as MD.All of them had wonderful songs- Annakkili, Uravaadum Nenjam, Kadavul Amaitha Medai, Chittukkuruvi.Poonthalir was the remake of the hindi film Aakhri Khat(Kadaisi Madal)
